The US market rallied initially on Friday on the back of some good unemployment numbers. Later in the day the market gave up the gains but still ended positive.
The Dollar Index however had a big day with one of the largest rallies seen in recent times. That put pressure on commodities which ended the day in the negative. Gold saw one of its largest falls in recent times on Friday. But I do feel that Gold remains a buy on dips and also a buy and hold forever kind of commodity now.
I cut my long positions on the Nifty and went a little short on Friday at around 5101 levels. I will add to my short positions if we see a fall below 5000. And in the event that I go wrong, which I usually do, I will cut my short positions only above 5200.
I did not see Sehwag bat since I was in Singapore that time. But the fact is that this man should be banned from cricket. Yes. It is one thing to bat well but quite another to make the opposition bowlers look like fools. Who does he think he is, toying around with recognised all time greats like Muralitharan?. This smacks of arrogance and deserves a ban. If you think that is not enough, think of the consequences an incandescent Sehwag innings has on co batsmen like M Vijay. Vijay batted very well but do you think anybody even remembers him?. What about young careers like that?. Who is responsible for that? And what about the advertisers. Sure, when Sehwag bats, he takes the match to another level. He lights up the stadium with the sheer brilliance of his performance. But then how long do you think he bats. Even when he scores a triple hundred he bats only for a day. After he goes the rest of the match appears dull in comparison. TRPs drop to the pits. When Sehwag bats, advertisers make money for one day and lose it for four other days. A bad ratio dont you think?
All this is bad for the game of cricket. It is a team sport not an individual game. He is such an outlier in terms of talent that he has no business being in a team sport. He is bad for the morale of opposition bowlers and if you think about it, bad for the morale for the batsmen in his own team. I say for the sake of the game of cricket he needs to be stopped immediately. Dropped from the team and given a life ban. I also propose starting three societies with immediate effect. SPCBo (Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Bowlers) SPCBa(Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Batsmen) and SPCAd(Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Advertisers). Thanks.
And tomorrow I will give you my takeaways from my trip to HK and Singapore. And remember I am short. A lot of people who know me will say that it is time to bet your house on a long Nifty position!!!.
