The markets fell on Thursday as you all know... but by writing it here I managed to fill in space without taxing my mind. That has its own advantages. If I can find different ways of saying the same thing or filling up space without saying anything much then I am on my way to being a self-help book author. These notes can provide me the practice to expand my SIX Habits of Highly Effective Traders into a 200 page book. Add a few illustrations here and there and I could even have a nice fat book which will look impressive enough and therefore sell but never be readable enough for people to realise that the book is infact not saying much.
But that is digressing. I need to focus. So let me say that as I write S&P is down but not yet broken my SELL levels of 1187. Similarly DAX too is down but managing to stay above my SELL levels at 5795. Nifty Sell level is now at 4970. If those levels are broken then I will cut my long positions and go flat. I will not yet go short.
It has been a long time since I wrote about cricket. The cricket boards are thinking about how to make the game of cricket more interesting. I have a few suggestions that the Indian board should push through with the ICC. 1]It should insist that DRS cannot be used against India while India can use it. 2] No umpire can give Sachin out. Sachin will decide when he wants to give others a chance to bat 3] If an Indian takes a catch on the bounce then the opposite batsman is out 4] If an Indian bowler manages to hit the opposite batsman anywhere on his pads then he is out whether the ball is going to hit the stumps or not 5] The opposite team batsman can hit a six but if the ball goes on the full into the stands then he is out. He has to only clear the ropes but not hit it into the stands.
You might think that I have lost it and that this is not fair at all on the other teams. You might even wonder how these changes can make the game interesting. I ask you what is wrong? Have you heard of the term handicap? In amateur golf for eg, the worse your handicap the more shots you get to complete the course. If golf can have it, then why cant cricket. I tell you, instead of watching a complete mismatch of a series like the just concluded India England series, we could actually have a tough and exciting game of cricket if these changes are introduced. All that is required to revive interest in cricket is some out of the box thinking! Meanwhile, I hope Nifty moves up. I am long and sweating.
