Fifth Habit of Highly Effective Traders

By now you will know that I am short on the Nifty and that I remain short until 4941 is taken out. I will not go long today.

Now that this is out of the way, I can go back to writing my book. The first four habits will help you maximise your potential as a trader. That is it will help you get the maximum out of whatever system or method you follow as a trader. But this comes with its own set of problems. Human nature being what it is, with the increase in confidence as a trader, you will start trading more assets. Soon you will be trading all your waking hours as commodities markets end at 11:30 in India. With your already weak social skills, the increased trading success will lead to more isolation from the rest of the world. Incidentally, you could argue that this isolation is not such a bad thing and you do have a point but then we do have to interact with the world once in a while and cannot lose all abilities of social interaction. This is specially important if unlike me you are still not married. Sitting in front of a computer the whole day is not going to help your case.

Given this, the Fifth Habit comes in handy. "Find a group activity which does not involve the market". This will force you to spend some time with a group of people who are not going to be talking only about the market. Ideally this group could be a group of runners or a group that plays tennis or maybe even golf. This way you can combine your need for exercise and the need for interaction with non market players. Do anything to get away from the markets for a small period of time. Remember this will all add up when it comes to the most essential habit of all-The Sixth Habit.

Having written all this, I thought of helping you to pass time in todays market in case like me your stops are pretty far off and you are not one of those people who like to occupy themselves by day trading unnecessarily. Answer this one for me. How can 2 divided by ten equal 2? If after trying you cannot get the answer you can write to me for it.
