Will they or wont they? Till last week it was whether the Greece Parliament will approve the austerity measures or not? This week it will be about whether the approval of the Greece Parliament for the austerity measures be sufficient for the European authorities to approve the disbursal of the second tranche of the loan to Greece. Hopefully, slowly but surely this episode of the ongoing TV Drama called the "European Crisis" will come to a positive conclusion this week. But the key word in the previous sentence surely is "episode"... implying that this is only one of several such episodes that will take place in the coming months.
Surely not all of them will have a happy ending? We do not know this because that will happen in the future. For the moment we should be happy and relieved that the current episode looks like it is headed towards a happy resolution. So with all the money sloshing around the world, we can expect another bout of asset inflation. This could lead to further risk-on trades and hopefully another rally in equities. I for one, am long on the Nifty and will continue to be long until 5342 is broken. If that happens I will cut my long positions and go short.
